New Ryanair Routes Include Ibiza

Ryanair is expanding its operations at Bristol, Edinburgh, Glasgow and Liverpool. The growth will see new routes and increased frequencies of existing services.

The changes will come into effect from next spring. However, all new routes are available for booking now.

Ryanair's Stephen McNamara said the airline was "delighted" to announce the expansion, which includes 10 new routes. The frequency of a further six services will also be increased.

Behind Closed Doors : Hotel Es Vive Ibiza

November in Ibiza heralded a spectacular Indian summer for those lucky enough to be on the white isle – we’re talking temps in the high 20s, swimming, sunbathing, long lunches on the beach, the lot! But once the sun sinks down behind those green tipped mountains, the temperature also drops, meaning those wanting to celebrate in true Ibiza style need to seek out all-new places to party. Now that summer’s open air bars and restaurants aren’t an option, it seems that all the action takes place Behind Closed Doors…

Ibiza Tourist Board launches ‘Winter In Ibiza’ Programme

Sun and sand destination Ibiza is gradually extending its season reports Travel Daily News

More hotels are now staying open throughout the winter months and a programme entitled ’Winter in Ibiza’ has been launched to highlight the cultural heritage, beautiful landscape and activities available on the island throughout the quieter months.

The island is a perfect place to visit out of the traditional season, December sees a maximum temperature of 22 centigrade and rain fall is minimal with just 58 mm falling throughout the average December. That alongside the short flight time of just two hours and a new route by Ryanair that runs throughout the winter means that Ibiza is opening up to the UK public as a Winter short break destination.

The new ‘Winter in Ibiza’ programme focuses on the theme of ‘Ibiza, Genuine and Natural’ encompassing activities such as horse riding and cycling through the tranquil countryside, traditional dance performances, guided walks and events aimed specifically at the younger audience!

The programme which has been newly rolled out this year to cover the 2009 / 2010 season will be further expanded next year and will run from October 2010 to May 2011

Hotel Es Vive are staying open all year for long weekend breaks and will be hosting Christmas and New year parties in conjunction with some of the islands hottest DJ`s... so if you fancy getting away for a bit just let us know and we will do all we can to make sure you have the best time possible.

UK Visitors to Ibiza 2009

From January to September 2009 547,086 passengers visited Ibiza from the UK.

89,128 flew from London Gatwick with the second highest passenger traffic coming from Manchester with 86,339 travelling through the airport.

The third most popular departure airport was London Stansted which is home to an all year round Ryanair flight which has helped the airport see 77,125 departures travel through the airport for Ibiza.

The UK's regional airports also saw a wide spread of passengers departing from Ibiza with a strong presence from the Midlands airports with Birmingham International, East Midlands and Luton accounting for 109,630 passengers. Scotland's airports carried 35,179pasengers.

These figures represent a decrease of -1.4% on the same period last year, a slight decrease which shows that Ibiza is maintaining its market share and has not been hit to the same extent that mainland Spain and other islands have in the last year. Tenerife for instance is currently down 15.9% and Valencia is down 17.2% year on year.

The month by month breakdown betrays Ibiza's current seasonality with over 80% travelling in a four month period from June to September inclusive. Building on 2009's strategic focus the tourist board plans to continue working to extend the season. Increasingly hotels are opening all year round and with the continuation of the Ryanair flight throughout the winter season the destination is now firmly positioning itself as a year round destination.

Ibiza Direct Hotel Bookings for 2010

For 2010 holidaymakers to Ibiza will have a new channel of booking. As direct business continues to grow to the island fuelled by the low cost flight options and the market for small, independently run agroturismos and boutique hotels grows the tourist board has signed a deal with the Hotel Association allowing online accommodation bookings through the website.

The idea behind this is that the new agreement will make Ibiza's accommodation inventory available in the same place as all the information on the island. This will help those searching for accommodation to easily see the most suitable resorts and accommodation options prior to booking.

Customers can book through the website knowing that the accommodation featured is quality assured and has the Associations' seal of approval; this gives customers the added trust factor which can sometimes be missing with online bookings.

The Ibiza Tourist Board website can be found at www.ibiza.travel with the new accommodation from the Hotel Association going live in December 2009.

Trip Advisor Review on Hotel Es Vive

We have been coming to Ibiza for around the last 8 years, and we only discovered Es Vive a couple of years ago... having spent a few nights in their amazing bar, we decided to try it for ourselves as guests. What a great decision that was!!! Had the most amazing holiday ever!!! The friendliest staff I have ever met anywhere in the world, plus a great ambience and the tastiest food, made it a superb time spent in Ibiza....
Seeing some of the other reviews, I can only imagine those people had very bad luck, as everything we experienced was top notch - our room was great - yes we saw some of the smaller roms, but c'mon guys, this is a boutique hotel - they are the same all around the world!! The DJ playing poolside always played the best tunes, and was never annoying. The Experience bar was still rocking as ever, but being a bit older these days, we didn't stay in there too late and were never bothered by the music as other people have mentioned.
We had a great time and we will be back!!!!
